There are so many types of films. How do I choose the one that is right for my needs?
Every building is different and every client has specific goals and expectations. We will listen to your needs and make appropriate recommendations based on our conversations coupled with our expertise. In many cases, we run an energy analysis and install test panels to help you determine the best fit for your building.
How does my business apply for a rebate for the window film we plan to have installed?
We will assist you every step of the way and can often complete and submit the application for you. In some cases the utility company may require pre and post inspections. We will work with them to make certain they have everything they need to approve your rebate.
How long does window film last?
Every type of film has a different warranty and life expectancy based on standard usage. Lifetime warranties are standard for residential films, while ten to fifteen years is the standard warranty range for commercial applications. Most of our 3M films easily outlast their warranty period. As the technology continues to improve, we expect window films to last 20 years or more.
How long does it take for the film to be installed?
That depends on the size of the scope, but once we schedule a job we work diligently to finish within the agreed upon timeframe. Our representative will help you establish a timeframe after meeting with you to review the property and establish the scope of work.
Can you install window tinting film after hours for commercial buildings?
In most cases, we’re happy to install window films during evening hours and on weekends to avoid disrupting your business day.
I heard that window film might cause glass to break. Is that true?
No. If the appropriate product is installed and the glass type and shading conditions are considered prior to installation (which we will do), you do not need to worry about glass breakage. Additionally, your warranty includes glass breakage coverage. Ask our representative for details.
Can your window film cause my building’s dual pane windows to fail or get foggy?
No. Our entire window film line is dual pane safe. Any dual pane window can fail, with or without window film. A dual pane failure is caused by a weak or defective seal. To address these concerns, 3M’s warranty covers glass and film replacement should a failure occur.
How do I clean my windows after the film is installed?
After the 30 day dry-out period has elapsed, your window film may be cleaned with a soft clean cloth and alcohol based cleaners or a mild soapy water. We provide complete cleaning and care instructions after installation and are happy to help you.
I want to install security film to defend against burglary. Do security films really prevent breaking and entering?
Yes, but we need to install thick film and an attachment system. Our experience has shown that thinner films without attachment systems do not perform very well. Contact us to discuss your needs in detail and our team will create a custom solution that can help you prevent smash and grab burglaries.
Do anti-graffiti films interfere with the view into my storefront?
No. Anti-graffiti film is clear and will be virtually invisible.
Can window film provide privacy? How does mirror or dark window film work?
Yes. We recommend a dark and/or reflective film. To achieve the desired effect, one should have brighter lighting outside of the space you are trying to have privacy in. During daytime the dominant source of light is outside, so you should have good privacy. At nighttime, if there are bright lights on inside, and it is really dark outside, people will be able to see in. If there are blinds in the space, closing them at night will eliminate the chance of someone seeing in.
